SUMMER ALL-STAR RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS

SUMMER ALL-STAR RELAY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Hello Summer Swim League Reps!
This year New Wave Swim Team will be hosting the first ever Summer League All Star Relay Championship Meet at Cary Swim Club on July 11th.  Your team is cordially invited to participate. This unique meet concept features relay events only – Medley, Freestyle and a Crescendo relay.  Warmups start at 7am with the meet beginning at 8:30am and should be complete in less than 4 hours.  Medals, ribbons and trophies will be awarded to teams and concessions will be available by Cary Swim Club.
The way things work is that you will time your relays each week of your summer league season, through July 2nd.  Each week, you will report those times to Wave via a link on our website.  Wave will accumulate the results and will announce the top 16 teams in each event.  These teams will be invited to participate in the meet.  Additionally, all teams who are entered in the meet may enter a relay team for the Crescendo Relay.
We would love to have your team participate.  Please don’t hesitate to respond to this email with any questions you may have.  We look forward to seeing you July 11th.

How:                    Each week, Wave will compile all of the relay results and post the best relay times for each event.  Wave will post these results on the Wave website (newwaveswimteam.org).  After July 2nd, the final list of relays will be compiled and Wave will contact the top 16 teams’ Summer League reps and the relay teams will be invited.  Summer League teams will have just over 24 hours to accept or decline the invitation.  If a relay team with a time in the top 16 declines, the next fastest relay team will be invited.

Come out and swim with Olympians!

In honor of our dear head coach Brian Goldman, the Meredith Townes Mudpuppies, a Raleigh swim team, are continuing the fight to find a cure for cancer.  We will host a Swim Across America Olympic Swim and Water Polo clinic again this year, to be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary, NC on June 28, 2015 from 3:00pm-5:30pm. Youth, adults and teams from across the state will converge at the Triangle Aquatic Center to participate in Olympic Clinics for both swimming and water polo. Proceeds from these clinics will be donated to Swim Across America, a charity which has raised over $60,000,000 since 1987 to help fund Cancer Research.

Approximately 300 athletes will participate in events surrounding the Olympic Clinics, which will include 1 hour of Olympic swimming clinic and 1 hour of Olympic water polo clinic. These instructional clinics will be led by head coaches and assistant coaches from UNC, NCSU, and Duke University, as well as swimming and water polo Olympians, world champion open water swimmers, and other swimming luminaries.

This will be a great time to meet swimmers and Division I coaches at the top of their fields, to learn with them, perhaps even to get yourselves on their 'radar'! Slots are filling quickly, so head over to the Swim Across America website for information and to register today!

Thanks from all of us at Meredith Townes Mudpuppies! Help us to beat cancer!
