Brian Goldman obituary

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to 'close the circle' so to speak. Brian passed away Sunday morning. His funeral will be held tomorrow. Please see his obituary below for details:

Brian Goldman died peacefully Sunday morning after a long battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his wife, Michele, his two adored sons, Jared and Ben, his parents Jill and Alan Goldman, his sisters Betsy Goldman and Melissa Rouse, brother-in-law Scott Rouse, nephews Jake and Austin Rouse, brother and sister-in-laws Mark and Tamar Hauptman and their children, Jacob, Rebecca, Gabrielle, and Noah. He is also survived by his precious Mudpuppy family.

Brian died too young, but he lived more in his 50 years here than most people could in a hundred. In every endeavor he undertook, he strived to be the best he could be. He was a life-long swimmer with a passion for the sport. He held records for years at North Hills Club, and went on to swim for Duke during his undergraduate years. Seven years ago, he combined that love of sport and love of coaching and started the Mudpuppies Swim Team at Meredith Townes Pool. Under his loving leadership, the team achieved unprecedented success, winning division championships for the last five years, with undefeated seasons for the last three. For him, more important than the wins were the life lessons he shared with his young swimmers.

Brian was also a beloved physician practicing at Raleigh Medical Group since 2002. His patients remember him for the care and attention he showed them, and his philosophy that health is really about living well and enjoying life.

He certainly embodied that motto. He loved being in nature, learning new things, and experiencing new adventures. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. To the best of his ability, he held on to his passions until the very end. He will be profoundly missed.

A funeral service to honor his life will be held on March 12, 2015 at 10 am at Temple Beth Or, 5315 Creedmoor Road, Raleigh. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Brian's honor to Swim Across America, www.swimacross america.org If you have memories or stories of Brian that you wish to share with his family, please post them at www.car ingbridge.org/visit/coachbrian

A note to all who know Dr. Brian Goldman

Good evening all,

I'm just realizing that I've been remiss in passing along some very somber news to the TSA community; for those of you not already aware, our head coach Brian Goldman, a Raleigh native, physician, lifelong competitive swimmer, and first and only head coach of the Meredith Townes Mudpuppies, is nearing the end of his almost two year battle with cancer. Many of you know him from his involvement in summer swim league, still others of you know him as a RAM swimmer (or earlier, as a Duke swimmer), or perhaps you even grew up with Brian. Regardless of how you came to know him, his passion for life was infectious; everything he has done, he has done with grace and passion. The Mudpuppies are proud to be a part of his legacy.

So, essentially, I'm just writing to let those of you who know Brian that there is a website where his dear wife Michele has been sharing news of his battle, and where anyone can post comments, pictures, words of inspiration, and memories to buoy Brian's spirit. Michele reads them all to Brian. He is currently at Rex hospital, but my sense is that he is not up to visitors any more. Here is the site:

Peace and thanks to all,

Swim Caps

Our team would like to have swim caps printed. We haven't had new ones for several years and the place we used before is out of business. Does anyone know the best place to have caps printed?
Thanks!
