Good
evening TSA reps!
As
many of you know, each year for the past three, we, the Meredith
Townes Mudpuppies, have partnered with the Swim-Across-America
Foundation to host a swim-fundraiser to benefit cancer research. We
do this to honor our first head coach, Dr. Brian Goldman, who lost
his fight with cancer two years ago.
This
year, the event will again be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center,
where swimmers from all over Wake County will join us to partake in a
one mile simulated open-water swim in the competition pool, a water
polo clinic, and, always a fan-favorite, a series of stroke technique
clinics led by swimming and water polo Olympians, National Master’s
Champions, Champion Open Water Swimmers, and Division 1 swimming coaches. There will be time after the clinics to get autographs,
talk with the coaches about swimming in college, and even take
pictures with your favorite swimmers and their medals! This is a great event for
summer leaguers, for year-round swimmers, and for prospective
year-round swimmers.
The
inaugural one mile swim was a hit last year, with almost 100 swimmers
from age 8-80 participating, including a five time Invictus Games
Gold medalist, Raleigh Area Masters’ swimmers, Summer league teams, and even relay

In
keeping with Coach Brian’s original goals for this clinic, it will
be held this year just prior to the start of the season. This is by
design! This way, TSA swimmers can go into the season with some new
skills and techniques that will serve them well for the entire
