Lane lines available

The Durant Trails Typhoons have four used lane ropes (25 yards, blue and white pattern, reasonable condition) available for sale or to give away.  We would rather not simply dispose of them at the dump, but we don't have space to store them.  We are also looking to purchase a used storage reel if anybody has one for sale.  If interested please contact Caroline Pruden (919-538-4530).  Thank you!

Approved Stroke and Turn Judges

Hello TSA Reps -

I hope everyone is gearing up and ready for a great summer swim season with the Tarheel Swimming Association!

I wanted to pass on to you that the 2014 list of approved Stroke and Turn judges is available here.

The spreadsheet will be updated throughout the season, so if you have any updates or changes, please email them to strokeandturn.tsanc.org@gmail.com.

When sending updates, please remember to list:

  • Stroke and Turn judge name
  • What club they represent
  • Where they are certified (USA Swimming, NCHSAA, etc), and their certification number.
Please take some time to look over the spreadsheet to ensure that your club and judges are accurately listed.  There are a number of clubs who currently do not have any certified Stroke and Turn officials.  It is important for every club to have certified Stroke and Turn officials. If your club does not have any, you can still get them certified online at www.StrokeAndTurn.com.  Prior to each Tuesday’s meet, I will update the list with any additional certifications for people who have passed the online certification.

Best of luck for a great 2014 season!

Fast water,
Todd Blandford

It is mandatory that each team send their coaches to a Coaches clinic every year.

Stroke and Turn officials who do not hold certifications from USA Swimming, the NCHSAA, the NCAA or the YMCA must re-certify every year. Officials who have been certified by one of those outside organizations need only to email TSA vice president Todd Blandford a copy of their credentials before the beginning of each TSA season.

An online option for stroke and turn certification is available at www.strokeandturn.com. There is a $25 fee for this course.  If you certify via the online method you need to ensure that you know the differences between what is taught online versus the TSA rules (yes, there are some differences!). Finally, it is not the recommendation of the TSA Clinics Committee for any first-year official to obtain certification via the online method.
