Swimming Across America is Coming to Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary!

Back in July of this year, I had been diagnosed with Stage IIIA breast cancer. It was devastating. I began treatment to try to shrink the tumors prior to surgery, and, as I was surfing the web during one of my chemotherapy sessions, an idea was born. The idea was to have a swim to raise money towards cancer research. Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary has donated the entire 50m swimming pool on May 20, 2012. Swim Across America is publicizing the event, provided individual swimmer with fundraising web-pages, incentive prizes, and organizational ideas.

Since then, a number of area non-profits have signed on to the idea, offering their sponsorship. Among them are the Raleigh Area Masters swim team, Isis Athletics and le Tour de Femme. MOR, YOTA, YOTA Masters, New Wave, UNC Chapel Hill Swim Team, NCAC, NCAC Masters, RSA, Streamline Swimming School, Swim Tyde, and Tyde Masters are sending swimmers to this event. However, we are not limiting it to age group swimmers. The event is open to all ages and abilities. The whole point is to swim the events, have fun, and raise money to help find a cure for cancer.

Would it be possible for teams from the Tarheel Swim Association to send swimmers? We are working with Swim Across America, which is a nationally recognized non-profit organization, and thus tax forms and other documentation of this legitimate event are available should you need them. We really need your help, especially since TSA is so highly recognizable in the community.
