HEAD COACH JOB DESCRIPTION: Manage and direct the summer swim team for the
Garner Dolphins. Position runs from the end
of May through the end of July. Work schedule will vary, including
weekday evening and Saturday morning practices, as well as eight (8) swim meets
throughout the season.
Responsibilities Include:
•
Leading swimmers through all aspects of competitive
swimming, including skill development, endurance training, starts, flip turns
and relay exchanges
•
Fostering team spirit, good sportsmanship and fun
•
Inspiring swimmers to enjoy the sport of swimming
•
Active participation throughout the swim season
•
Meet, practice structure and facilities
preparation
•
Preparation of meet rosters and relay assignments
to balance fair participation and competitive strategy
•
Participation throughout entire swim meet,
including set up, warm-ups, practice starts, all events, take down, etc.
•
Engaging parents and cultivating relationships to
create a collaborative swim team environment
•
Assisting in the supervision of the assistant
coach
Ideal Candidates Possess:
•
High school diploma
•
Competitive swimming experience
•
Prior coaching experience
•
Prior swimming instruction experience
•
Experience working with children of all ages and
skill levels
•
Strong communication and organizational skills
•
CPR and First Aid or equivalent training
•
Experience with Hy-Tek Meet Manager
•
Willingness to participate in background check
ASSISTANT COACH JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of managing the swim team. The season runs
from the end of May through the end of July. Scheduling may vary, including
weekday evening practices; Saturday morning practice; and eight (8) meets.

Assisting the head coach in creating an age
appropriate workout focusing on: technique, endurance, stroke development,
drills, etc.
•
Inspiring swimmers to enjoy the sport of swimming,
fostering team spirit, good sportsmanship and having fun
•
Active participation throughout the swim season
•
Assisting in the management of structured practices
•
Assisting the head coach with administrative
matters relating to the team, swim meet arrangements and interaction with
parents
•
Any additional duties as assigned by the head
coach
Ideal Candidates Possess:
•
Interest in and ability to work with children at
all age levels
•
Competitive swimming experience
•
Strong communication and organizational skills
•
Previous coaching experience
•
Prior swimming instruction experience
•
A positive and encouraging attitude during swim
practice
•
Lifeguard training, CPR and First Aid or
equivalent training
•
Willingness to participate in background check
