Amberly Anacondas Hiring Coaches

The Anacondas are looking for new coaches for their 2023 season.

Head Coach Job Description 

Fosters a balance of development, fun, and competition. 
  •    Creates a culture of lifelong enjoyment of swimming, teamwork, and positivity. 

Implements a summer swimming program for all swimmers, ages 5-18. 

  •     Team enrollment will be capped at approximately 200 swimmers, without tryouts, but with a swim test to ensure basic water competency. 

Attends all practices and meets. 

  •     Practices start May 15 and the season ends on July 23 with the TSA meet. There are seven (7) official meets and one likely intrasquad meet pre-season. The team also utilizes smaller, shorter Saturday morning meets for new & developing swimmers to build skills and experience. 

Supervises the entire coaching staff to optimize their maximum potential within the framework of their coaching abilities and to provide consistent instruction to all swimmers. 

  •     This includes promoting individual, actionable feedback during practices and meets. 
  •     We expect there to be four (4) assistant coaches with the potential for older swimmers to also assist with younger swimmers in larger age groups. 

Provides instruction on each of the four (4) basic stroke skills necessary for competitive swimming.

  •     Instruction includes diving from starting blocks and/or pool side; proper, safe, flip turns as applicable; and general swim meet strategies. 

Partners with Anacondas swim team leadership to meet team goals. 

Clearly communicate to various stakeholders including swimmers, parents, other coaches, Clubhouse staff, Anacondas leadership, volunteers, meet officials, TSA representatives, etc. 

Manages meet lineups and strategies. 

  •     Includes gathering applicable feedback from coaches, using up-to-date inputs like analytics, personal evaluation, and applicable circumstances with an eye toward both development and winning (depending on the meet, the individual swimmer, and the team needs). 

Models and promotes good sportsmanship to all swimmers. 

Emphasizes swimmer safety and maintains an organized practice with all Assistant Coaches fully engaged in instruction activities. 

  •     Includes inclement weather plans and communication 

Strongly Recommended 

Prior swim coaching experience, ideally as a Head Coach or an Assistant Head Coach. 

Experience supervising and training other swim coaches. 

Experience with Meet Manager and SwimTopia Meet Maestro and electronic meet entries. 

Outstanding candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus as well as a retention bonus. The hired coach may have input on hiring assistants. If a candidate has assistant coaches with which they’ve worked in the past, the team welcomes referrals for the coaching staff. 

Candidates 18 years and older will need to pass a background check. Completion of SafeSport or similar athlete abuse prevention training is strongly recommended. 

 

Assistant Coach Job Description  

Assist the Head Coach in implementing a summer swimming program for all swimmers, ages 5-18. 

Provides instruction on each of the four (4) basic stroke skills necessary for competitive swimming in TSA. 

Fosters a balance of development, fun, and competition. 

Models and promotes good sportsmanship to all swimmers. 

Assistant coaches expected to attend all practices and meets. 

Strongly Recommended 

Year-round swimming and/or collegiate swimming experience is ideal. 

Candidates 18 years and older will need to pass a background check.
