More information on clinics

There are no fees for any clinics.  No reservations or sign up is required. It is required that you sign in at the clinic that you attend in order to obtain credit for the attendance.  You must also stay the entire time of the clinic. If you can't stay the entire time, please select one that you can.

The online strokeandturn.com is an alternative method of obtaining stroke and turn certification for the TSA summer league. There is a $25.00 fee for this course.  TSA offers this as an alternative for those who can not attend a clinic. If you obtain certification via strokeandturn.com it is your responsibility to know the differences between what they teach on line and our TSA league rules,
(yes there are some slight differences).

Please note that it is not the recommendation of the clinics committee that a person without stroke and turn experience become certified via strokeandturn.com.  We also recommend that if it is your first year as a stroke and turn official or a starter that you find a mentor on your team or a neighboring team.

Thanks!

TSA Clinics

Why do we have mandatory attendance for clinics? The purpose of the clinics is to provide a consistent training and competition experience for TSA's 10,000+ swimmers. We ask for each club's cooperation and commitment in maintaining this standard and keeping TSA a strong summer league.

2015 Schedule
Saturday, May 9th @ TAC in Cary: MEGA CLINIC DAY
    • Starters Clinic at 8:00 am
    • Stroke and Turn Clinic at 9:30 am
    • Coaches Clinic at 11:00 am
Thursday, May 21st @ Planters Walk in Knightdale:
    • Stroke and Turn Clinic at 7:00 pm
Wednesday, May 27th @ Lochmere Highlands Clubhouse (NOT the main Lochmere clubhouse) in Cary:
    • Stroke and Turn Clinic at 7:30 pm
Saturday, May 30th @ North Hills in Raleigh: MEGA CLINIC DAY (No outside food or beverages!)
    • Starters Clinic at 8:00 am
    • Stroke and Turn Clinic at 9:30 am
    • Coaches Clinic at 11:00 am
Thursday, June 4th @ Scotts Mill in Apex:
    • Stroke and Turn Clinic at 7:30 pm

It is mandatory that each team send their coaches to a Coaches clinic every year.

Stroke and Turn officials who do not hold certifications from USA Swimming, the NCHSAA, the NCAA or the YMCA must re-certify every year. Officials who have been certified by one of those outside organizations need only to email TSA vice president Todd Blandford a copy of their credentials before the beginning of each TSA season.

An online option for stroke and turn certification is available at www.strokeandturn.com. There is a $25 fee for this course.  If you certify via the online method you need to ensure that you know the differences between what is taught online versus the TSA rules (yes, there are some differences!). Finally, it is not the recommendation of the TSA Clinics Committee for any first-year official to obtain certification via the online method.
No reservation nor RSVP necessary, just show up on time. Remember to sign in so that you get credit for attendance.  In consideration of others you need to stay the entire clinic.

LAPS for TAPS - Memorial Day Community Swim Event

Are you looking for an event that can bring your community together and raise money for a great cause? Consider sponsoring a "LAPS for TAPS" swim event to raise money for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (T.A.P.S) over Memorial Day Weekend (or any time!).

T.A.P.S. supports families who have been impacted by a death in the military regardless of geography or circumstance. The organization provides an amazing network of resources, seminars and publications at no charge to survivors from all branches of service, including Reserves and National Guard. T.A.P.S. programs and services are available not only for immediate family, but also for extended family and friends.

Our swim team’s involvement grew out of a tragedy. One of our Gator alumni, SPC Andrew Sipple, died on January 17th, 2014 in service to our country while deployed in Afghanistan. The T.A.P.S. organization was terrific to work with and provided support that helped us raise over $6,000. We held the event from 8 am to 11 am on Memorial Day with a breakfast. I’ll be happy to provide a template for how to organize this event. Please email me for details.
