Swim Across America Olympian Clinic is this Sunday!

Good morning TSA reps,

On behalf of the Meredith Townes Mudpuppies, I just wanted to extend another invitation to our third annual Swim Across America cancer fundraiser honoring our first head coach, Brian Goldman. This year's event will be held this Sunday, July 10th, from 2:00-6:00 at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary. For your swimmers there are some fantastic activities planned! As always, we will have technique clinics led by some of the greatest names in swimming, where students will meet in small groups for instruction in each of the four swimming strokes, as well as water polo, and this year, open water swimming! Sue Walsh (UNC grad, Olympian 1980 backstroke)), Elaine (Breeden) Penrose (Stanford grad and still NCAA record-holder in the 200 fly, Beijing silver medalist in butterfly), and Tim Payne (5 time gold medalist in the Invictus Games) are just a few of the many headliners that will offer their time for this great cause. See the previous post on Tuesday Night Lights for additional clinic leaders.

For all of your swimmers who are looking to squeeze more out of their swims, meet with some of the worlds best swimmers and water polo players, and come away feeling like they've made a difference, please join us on Sunday, it is an event not to be missed! In fact, I've learned that the president of the national Swim-Across-America foundation has taken notice of our event, and will be joining us as well! There will be prizes for top fundraisers (including an autographed water polo ball from the captain (Tony Acevedo) of the US Water Polo team!) Here's the address for anyone looking for more information:

http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=4162&pg=entry

Note that you can swim as a team (join ours or create your own), or as an individual. Get your whole club out there!

Kind regards,
Steve Ross

Third Annual Swim Across America Swim, Water Polo, and Open-water challenge is open for registration!

Good morning TSA! I'm writing to you this morning to let you know that our third annual Swim Across America fundraiser to beat cancer is less than three weeks away! We do this in honor of our first coach, Dr. Brian Goldman. A physician, longtime swimmer, and yes, the very first "Mudpuppy", he founded and led our team for the first seven seasons before losing his battle with cancer in 2015.

This year's event will be action packed – as in past years, we will have workshops in swim and water polo technique led by the best and brightest swimmers and coaches in the world! We also add our first open water challenge this year, with a one mile simulated open water swim!

Come join us at the Triange Aquatic Center, July 10th, from 1:00-6:00 (or any part of that time). All teams (summer league, club teams, etc) are welcome!

Reserve your spots today by heading here to register, or to make a donation:
http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/TR?fr_id=4162&pg=entry
Do it Today! You can swim as part of 'team Mudpuppy' or form your own 'club team'!

Sorry, but due to lack of interest Relay Meet Canceled

While there are a few people that think the relay championships is an exciting idea, only 7 teams expressed an interest in participating in the event.  That means that we will not host the Relay Championships this summer.   I do feel like it is fun and exciting concept.   If there are people interested in seeing how we might do this better and gain interest, please email me at waveswim@nc.rr.com.   John Roy
