RSA in MAYpril: Seasonal Clinics for Summer League Swimming



RSA in MAYpril seasonal clinics are designed for children, ages four to eighteen, who are interested in summer league swimming.  Offered on weekdays and weekends, the clinics feature one hour classes and focus on skills needed for summer swimming success.  Led by RSA’s professional swim team coaches, the curriculum includes instruction in stroke technique, starts, turns and finishes, as well as reinforcement drills. 

The Firefish clinics are designed for four to six year olds and are taught in RSA’s warm water instructional pool with in-water and on-deck coaches. Firefish curriculum focuses on the elements of freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke, with an emphasis on FUN.  Participants do not have to be able to swim 25 yards unassisted or be proficient in their strokes, but participants must be able to swim independently.

The Wahoo clinics are designed for seven to eighteen year olds who are taught in a six-lane lap pool.  Wahoo curriculum focuses on the four strokes, (Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly and Freestyle), as well as starts, turns, finishes and drills.  Participants must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. 
Clinics are held at RSA’s Sonner Aquatic Facility located at 1013 Jones Franklin Road in Raleigh, NC.  Clinics include:

Weekday Firefish: Mondays and Wednesdays: 10:00 am

4/22/19-5/15/19; 8 classes: $180.00

Weekday Firefish: Tuesdays and Thursdays: 5:00 pm

Session 1:      4/23/19-5/02/19; 4 classes: $99.00
Session 2:      5/07/19-5/16/19; 4 classes: $99.00

Weekend Firefish: Saturdays OR Sundays 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm

Weekend Wahoo: Saturdays OR Sundays:  2:00 pm and 3:00 pm

There are no classes on Sunday, 4/21/19. For Weekend Wahoos, age is determined by the participant’s age as of 6/01/19.

Coach Needed: Harmony Hammerheads




The neighborhood of Harmony (6880 Turner Creek Road, Cary, NC) needs another summer swim coach from the end of May to the end of July.

Our practices are on Monday and Wednesday evenings (coaches need to be there from 5:30 to 8:15 pm), Saturday mornings (coaches need to be there 7:30 to 10:15 am). Coaches need to also be at the six Tuesday night meets June 11, 18, 25 and July 2, 9, 16.  Coach presence at home meets is from 4:00 to about 10:30 pm and away meets typically 5:00 to 9:30 pm. More hours can also be billed by meet lineup preparation, post meet data management, and other non-pool activities.

Qualifications are having competitive swimming experience at the high school level or above. This could be from a year-round private club (Wave, Yota, Titans, etc.) or from a varsity high school team or even a college team. It is critical that the coach is able to arrange reliable transportation to practices.

ABBINGTON ALLIGATORS - ASSISTANT COACH OPENING







Abbington Alligators Swim Team - TSA 2018 Division 3 Champions!!


The Abbington Alligators Swim Team is seeking a professional and dedicated Assistant Coach for the 2019 summer season.  Having first fielded a team in 1999, Abbington has grown from a team of 50 swimmers to around 150 swimmers ages 4-18 years old.  As we enter our 20th  year, we are looking towards another exciting season! We desire coaches who will motivate and teach swimmers while maintaining a fun and exciting team and family atmosphere.  Our swim season runs from Mid May through late July.  We provide very competitive salary to our coaching staff. 

Duties will include, but are not limited to: day-to-day team management, development and supervision of age group appropriate workouts, assisting in preparing and submitting meet entries, attending swim team planning/parent meetings. 

The ideal candidate should have the following: 

Assistant Coach
-       Preferred swimming at college level - Competitive or Club
-       Coaching experience preferred
-       Ability to demonstrate good sportsmanship for teaching and motivating young swimmers
-       Enjoy working with swimmers of all ages including pre-competitive and competitive level swimmers
-       Ability to teach proper stroke technique
-       Ability to manage Junior and Assistant Coaches
-       Ability to work with other coaches to develop swim meet line-ups

Crooked Creek is hiring coaches for 2019 season

The Crooked Creek Crocs, a community pool located in Fuquay-Varina, are hiring coaches for the 2019 summer season. The Crocs are seeking applicants to join our coaching staff.

The primary goal of the Crooked Creek Crocs is to offer a fun and competitive summer swim program to the youth of the Crooked Creek Community. The coaches' key objectives are to aid swimmers in mastering strokes, setting and achieving goals, practicing good sportsmanship, and developing confidence through swimming.

The positions run from the beginning of May through July. The work schedule will vary, including weekday morning and evening practices and 8 meets throughout the season (includes mock meet and championship meet).

Duties include, but are not limited to, developing seasonal goals, workouts, creating meet lineups, coaching throughout swim meets, data entry, assisting with set up and tear down of meets, and keeping records and reports, as necessary.

Ren Park Rays - Need Head Swim Coach

The Ren Park Rays are seeking energetic Head Swim Coaches for the upcoming summer swim season.  Our neighborhood, Renaissance Park, is located near downtown Raleigh at the corner of Tryon & 401.  We are a relatively small and developing team with supportive and involved parents, a beautiful pool with practice/meet equipment, and about 40-50 eager youth swimmers.   

The season is 8 weeks longs, running from May 28th to July 21st.   Coaching will require approximately 12-15 hours each week at late afternoon/early evening practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; some Saturday morning clinics; 6 dual meets on Tuesday evenings; and the Championship meet.

MacGregor Downs Seeks Head Swim Coach



The MacDolphins are seeking an experienced, high energetic Head Swim Coach for their summer season which runs May 13th- June 30th.  The seven -week swim season includes 5 meets (one championship meet) and a learn-to-swim program (MacMini’s). 

Qualities for the coaching position should include:
·      High passion for the sport of swimming.
o   Love to work with swimmers of all ages, show professionalism at all times and bring high energy to both practices and swim meets.
·      Great communication skills with staff, swimmers and parents.
o   The Head Coach needs to have open communication and be comfortable talking, directing and working with the entire swim team.
o   Must be comfortable working with various abilities as this swim team ranges from learn-to-swim to competitive swimming.
·      Experience:
o   Head Coach should have experience with doing meet entries and meet line up.
·      Certifications:
o   Required to have current certification in CPR and First Aid and must provide a copy.

Summer Swim Coach Opening: Hawthorne Stingrays

The Hawthorne Stingray swim team is looking to hire a swim coach for the 2019 summer swim season. Our team is located off of Leesville/Norwood Road near 540 in North Raleigh.

Scotts Mill Seadragons hiring coaches for summer 2019 summer

The Scotts Mill Seadragons Swim Team is seeking coaches for the upcoming 2019 swim season. We are a TSA summer competitive swim team. As we work to grow our swim club, we are looking for a highly driven, high-energy individuals to lead approximately 150-200 swimmers of all ability levels and increase its numbers. The coaching staff will provide direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for all swim team members. 

Coaches will serve on a part-time basis, averaging 20-35 hours/week, which will vary during scheduled swim meets and other events, as needed. Practices are held at the Scotts Mill neighborhood pool and swim meets occur on Tuesday evenings in the surrounding Apex/Cary/Holly Springs area.
Job and Responsibility Description
– Plan meets and practices and daily workouts in coordination with assistant coaching staff.
– Promote a fun, safe, and team-oriented environment, while fostering learning and team spirit in a fair and impartial manner.
– Be a role model for swimmers when making personal decisions.
– Responsible for retaining and recruiting swimmers.
– Identify age and skill appropriate drills for each swim level that includes starts, strokes, and turns.
– Create and maintain control and a safe environment for the swimmers.
– Provide stroke technique for beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers.
– Review meet results (including disqualification issues) and provide feedback to each swimmer.
– Complete all scheduling of assistant coaches; certify and submit payroll every month.
– Prepare meet lineups, including completing all entries into Hy-Tek and Team Unify swim databases.
– Train/Mentor junior coaching staff to ensure consistency within the program.
– Coordinate, participate and/or lead coaches’ meetings.
– Communicate with swimmers, parents, and Board members in an effective and professional manner.
– Work with the Board members and participate in Club activities (fundraising events, end of season banquets, etc.).
– Build productive and professional relationships with other local swim clubs.
– Report to the Swim Team Board.

HOW TO APPLY

Deadline for submission is Monday, February 4th. Interviews for coaching positions will be conducted between February 11th and  March 1st with notification of hiring by March 15.

MORE MOR CLINIC LOCATIONS THAN EVER BEFORE

The Marlins of Raleigh Swim Team is kicking off more clinic locations than ever before in 2019.  Starting in February, MOR is launching single-day stroke clinics on specific areas of interest to all swimmers.  These clinics continue through March and TSA swimmers can sign up for one or more of the clinics at the MOR website - www.marlinsofraleigh.com. 

MOR's annual Spring Clinic - "MOR In MAY" kicks off the week of April 22 and goes through May 11.  This 3-day per week clinic will be offered at three different sites in Wake County and is available to swimmers of all ages.  Registration for MOR in MAY is open now at the MOR website and lasts until the clinic fills.  The cost is $110 per student.

  • Able to attend meets on Tuesday evenings in the summer
  • Coaching experience is preferred
Pay rates are competitive and dependent on experience.
