The Park at West Lake Stingrays seeking an Assistant Coach

The Stingrays are looking for an energetic assistant coach to help our team this summer. We are in our fourth year as a swim team, and our numbers have steadily increased - we are at approximately 100 to date. The Stingrays practice 4 evenings a week - Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:45 to 7:45, and Saturday mornings. Practices are divided up by age groups. The schedule goes down to 3 weekly practices when our meets start on 6/17. The coaching staff is fully supported by the team, the parents and the pool committee. Competitive pay provided.

Please email Kate Boles and Karen Rendon with your resume.

Thank you.

Championship Meet waiver form is now available

No rush yet, but the waiver form for the July 26-27 Championship Meet is now available. When a team submits its meet entries and fees in July (exact due date still TBD), it must also include a signed waiver form for each participating swimmer. You can avoid the last-minute scramble for signatures by getting your swimmers' parents to sign a waiver now and keeping those forms on file.

It is mandatory that each team send their coaches to a Coaches clinic every year.

Stroke and Turn officials who do not hold certifications from USA Swimming, the NCHSAA, the NCAA or the YMCA must re-certify every year. Officials who have been certified by one of those outside organizations need only to email TSA vice president Todd Blandford a copy of their credentials before the beginning of each TSA season.

An online option for stroke and turn certification is available at www.strokeandturn.com. There is a $25 fee for this course.  If you certify via the online method you need to ensure that you know the differences between what is taught online versus the TSA rules (yes, there are some differences!). Finally, it is not the recommendation of the TSA Clinics Committee for any first-year official to obtain certification via the online method.
