Clinics Schedule
Why do we have
mandatory attendance for clinics? The purpose of the clinics is to provide a
consistent training and competition experience for TSA's 10,000+ swimmers. We

keeping TSA a strong summer league.

- Starters Clinic at 8:00 am
- Stroke and Turn Clinic at 9:30 am

Online Stroke and Turn Course
The online course
offered by www.strokeandturn.com is an alternative method of obtaining stroke and turn
certification for the TSA summer league. There is a $25.00 fee for this course.
TSA offers this as an alternative for those who cannot attend a clinic. If you
obtain certification via this course, it is your
responsibility to know the differences between what they teach online and our
TSA league rules (yes, there are some
slight differences).
Please note that the Clinics Committee does not recommend that a person without any prior stroke and turn judging experience use this online course to achieve their first certification. We also recommend that first-time Stroke and Turn Judges and first-time Starters find a mentor on their team or a nearby one.
Stroke and Turn judges who do not hold a certification from USA Swimming, the NCHSAA, the NCAA or the YMCA must re-certify every year. Officials who have been certified by one of those outside organizations need only to email a copy of their credentials to the TSA Vice President before the start of each TSA season.
Additional Online Training for Coaches
It is mandatory that each team send its coaches to a TSA Coaches' Clinic every year. However, individual clubs may also wish to supplement their staff's training with the American Swimming Coaches Association's online course specifically created for summer league coaches,

Swim Coaches Needed
The Renaissance Park Rays are in search of Head and Assistant Coaches for this summer. If you know an experienced swimmer or coach who loves working with kids and might be interested, please forward them the following details.
The RenPark Rays are a neighborhood team competing in the Tarheel Swimming Association (TSA) summer recreational league. Our neighborhood, Renaissance Park, is located just south of downtown Raleigh at the corner of Tryon & 401. This will be our team's third year in the league, so we are still relatively small and developing. However, we have an experienced TSA Representative/Team Manager, supportive and involved parents, a beautiful pool with basic practice/meet equipment, several volunteer Coaches/Jr. Coaches, and about 40-50 eager youth swimmers.
The season is 8 weeks longs, running from May 31st to July 23rd. Coaches would work approximately 12 hours each week at practices on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and at meets on Tuesday evenings. The tentative practice schedule is 4:30-5:30pm (advanced older group), 5:30-6:00pm and 6:00- 6:30pm (6&unders), and 6:30-7:30pm (7-10 age group).
Interested applicants should contact Heather Thorpe at heatherthorpe07@gmail.com or 843-727-5371 as soon as possible.

Managing swim team with TSTM
TSA Swim Team Manager (TSTM) is a swim team management web site built for TSA swim teams. It has been serving TSA teams since 2010. Seventeen (17) TSA teams managed their teams with it last year.
It is perfectly fine if your team currently has a web site for informational purposes or you have an online team management system, but hope to make administration easier.
More about TSTM can be found at: http://www.tsaswimteam.com
If you are interested in trying it out or want to see a demo, please contact us at: tsaswimteam@gmail.com .

21 Crescendo Freestyle Relay 22
We received feedback when we tried to do this last year that
the process was difficult, the timing was bad and while people really liked the
concept it was a challenge for teams to participate. In an attempt to provide a fun, quality relay
competition, we have made the following changes to make the meet more appealing
to teams.
1.
There will be no qualifying process. Teams will be entered on a first entries sent
in process, until the meet is full. The
qualifying process created much of the confusion. This will now be just a normal meet
entry.
2.
We have moved the meet to an earlier date (June 25) to
avoid the very busy month of July.
3.
We are asking any team that plans on attending this
meet to please email wavecoaches@newwaveswimteam.org
prior to May 15, so that we can judge interest. Due to a lack of teams submitting entries
last year we had to cancel the meet. Shortly after canceling, several teams
indicated their displeasure as they had planned on coming but had not submitted
an entry yet.
4.
All questions can also be submitted to the email address
above.
