Wooden Starting Blocks wanted

Greetings from the Park at West Lake Swim Team.  We are interested in creating/building our own wooden starting blocks.  Has anyone had any success with building them or finding someone to build them on their behalf?

If you can give recommendations or suggestions, please email me.

Thanks
Dean Nunnally,
TSA Rep for the Park at West Lake Swim Team

Stroke and turn judge certification

StrokeAndTurn.com is available online now. TSA stroke and turn judges can become certified by completing the online course and test.

This course is offered completely online and may be taken at user’s convenience, including stopping at any point and resuming later, repeating sections, etc. Certification takes about two hours to complete, including post-training exam. Training and exam both use video clips extensively.

An exam grade of 80 percent or better is required to pass. The user must pay $12.95 fee to take course; each team can decide on its own whether to reimburse judges who use this. Please be sure to select the TSA and your club in the profile section under League/Team Affiliation.

The course is based on USA Swimming rules, so there are only a few minor differences from TSA:
• Covers Individual Medley, which TSA doesn’t use
• Some sections about officials refer to the Head Judge and Meet Referee, posts which don’t exist separately in TSA (the two TSA Reps, acting jointly, are the only officials in charge of Stroke & Turn Judges at a TSA meet)

Note that this is an alternative option for certification and is not required! TSA will still offer traditional (free) S&T clinics which will be announced soon. Also, S&T Judge certifications from USA Swimming, NCAA, NCHSAA or YMCA are still accepted by TSA; send name, team, certification body, certification number and certification expiration date to strokeandturn.tsanc.org@gmail.com.

A Special Offer to Tarheel Swimming Association Teams:

As a long-time member of Prestonwood CC, I’ve seen first-hand how ‘challenging’ swim meets can be for both coaches and parents during the hot summer months when those late afternoon thunderstorms occur. I’d like to offer some help. My company “Online Sports Comm” provides an easy-to-use “mass-alert” service that allows coaches and team administrators the ability to send an instant, simultaneous email and sms text message to all meet participants and family members -- directly from the meet site.  The service is flexible enough to be used ‘team-wide’ as well as within specific age-brackets.
There is nothing to learn, and best of all – team administrators don’t have to collect and enter any information themselves – as families can enroll directly from your team’s website.  You can learn more about our service at:

Please use the ‘More Information” form on the website and we’ll contact you about special TSA pricing.

Coaches Needed for the New Preston Village Team

We are a subdivision off Davis Drive adjacent to Prestonwood.  We have a great facility and are starting up a fun summer team this year.  We are in need of a Coach & Assistant Coach to run morning & late afternoon practices as well as several exhibition meets.  We need people with at least 1 year experience coaching and that work well with children & adults.  We already have 70+ swimmers interested...many with previous team experience.  Please contact Dee-Dee Cale at ddcale@nc.rr.com with your resume for consideration.

Fund Raising Opportunity!!

My wife and I are the new owners of the Smoothie King at Pleasant Valley. We would like to offer to deliver Smoothies to your meets as a fund-raising opportunity. We normally sell our 20 oz size for $4.49 but can sell them to you for $3.49 allowing you to keep $1.00 for every Smoothie you sell. (Of course, you could sell your smoothies for whatever price you feel is appropriate)  I would highly suggest our two most popular Smoothies, Angel Food (Strawberry, Banana and Protein) and Caribbean Way (Papaya, Bananas, Strawberries and protein).

Please let us know if you are interested and we can get the process started.
Thanks for your time!
